Ron Carey was born in Limerick and now lives in Dublin, Ireland. He has been a prize winner and finalist in many international poetry competitions including, The Bridport Prize, Lightship International Poetry Prize, Cinnamon Press Poetry Awards, Fish International Poetry Prize, Gregory O’ Donoghue International Poetry Awards, Strokestown Poetry Prize, Hugh O’Flaherty Poetry Award, iYeats Poetry Prize, the Wasafiri New Writing Prize for Poetry and the Allingham Poetry Prize. His poems have appeared in New Irish Writings, the Irish Times as well as many anthologies and magazines. His debut collection, Distance, was shortlisted for the Forward Prize Best First Collection UK and Ireland. He runs courses in Creative Writing both online and in person.
