Mary Gardner traces her love for words and writing to winning a standard English-language dictionary in 4th grade and to three years of Latin and French in high school and college. Her poems have been honored internationally, regionally and locally by their inclusion in many anthologies and/or receiving awards through those venues. FootHills Publishing published her three chapbooks of poetry as a trilogy. She holds a Certificate in Poetry from the Downtown Writers Center, YMCA, Syracuse, NY which is affiliated with independent writing programs across the United States. In a previous career, she published twenty articles on human resources and management development and earned a Master of Public Health degree from Johns Hopkins University. She is an active member and former president of the CNY Branch, National League of American Pen Women. She enjoys, and is enriched by, the company of family and friends and various commitments with community groups.
