Derek Kannemeyer's recent books include the novel The Memory Addicts (2022), the poetry collections You Go In By The Gate That Isn’t There (2023) and Mutt Spirituals (2021), the light verse collection A Betabestiary (2023), and the four act Play of Gilgamesh (2019). Kirkus Reviews named his photography/non-fiction study Unsay Their Names (2021), about the fall from grace of Richmond's Lost Cause statuary, one of their 100 Best Indie Books of 2021. Its photographs were the featured fall 2021 exhibition at Richmond's Black History Museum, and poems from Mutt Spirituals won the inaugural chapbook prize from the Irish journal Blue Nib.
